About Meagan Reynolds
I’m a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) and a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) who believes that to truly heal from any imbalance or disease one must get to the root cause. Chronic symptoms are often the result of poor diet, hidden infections, pathogens, toxicities, food sensitivities, nutrient deficiencies, self-limiting beliefs, as well as mental/emotional stress. Until the root causes of symptoms are identified, there will be only marginal improvement in your desired health outcome. That's why I was pulled to start my own practice where I could bring together many functional labs and healing modalities that both identify the cause and support the imbalance.
Our bodies send subtle messages to us that manifest as physical, mental, and emotional symptoms that are warning signs that something deeper may be going on. If we choose to ignore these symptoms or take medications that end up being the only treatment to manage the symptoms, other imbalances may start to develop. I have extensive experience counseling and assessing individuals in clinical, critical care, home infusion as well as outpatient settings. What I have learned from working with these patients over the years is that we are all complex individuals with vastly different circumstances and there is no “one size fits most” application when it comes to restoring balance. There are often many layers that have to be broken down, examined, and addressed before true healing can occur. Otherwise, the relief or desired outcome is only short-lived.
My Story
I've dealt with the chronic symptoms of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's that kept me from living my best life. In 2016, I realized that no doctor could help me and that I needed to take matters into my own hands.
What I wanted was to heal my thyroid and reverse all of my gut, skin, energy, pain, and mood issues so I could be able to take care of my family and live purposefully. But the diet and lifestyle changes I made were not enough. It wasn't until I discovered functional medicine and specialized lab testing that turned my health around.
I ended up testing for parasites, mold, a handful of environmental chemicals and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. After working with this, I was finally able to regain my energy and reverse all of my thyroid symptoms.
I was so inspired by my results that I started my own practice where I help women detox their bodies from what's triggering their symptoms.

"She took time to try and piece together my puzzle of symptoms and gave me a custom plan to start in order to battle my illnesses (that I had No idea I had). In just a few months I am down almost 40 lbs, and I truly have never felt better in my life! I have learned so much about nutrition, detox, pathogens, and tons more! I won’t say that my journey has been easy by any means, but it has been worth it. I would do it a million times over to feel as good as I do now."

Philosophy
Research indicates approximately 70-80% of the immune system resides in the gastrointestinal tract; therefore, my focus is heavily centered in this area. To be able to detox efficiently, one must have a healthy gut, open elimination channels, decrease toxin load, and increased nutrients to carry out such complex processes. Another area that is essential to overall health is the gut-brain barrier because this is where we see the effects of how stress, our environment as well as our thoughts and feelings affect our health.
A detailed intake form specific to either males or females coupled with functional lab testing is used to identify the root cause of symptoms. This allows me to assess my clients at a deeper level and customize a wellness plan that is truly specific and unique to their needs. I use a combination of herbs, supplements, integrative therapies and healing diets, such as elimination diets or specific highly researched diets tailored for certain disorders to achieve balance. I am not a proponent of long- term restrictive dieting; it's simply a temporary way of eating to create balance and/or to discover food sensitivities that may be silently creating inflammation that can be at the root of many symptoms. If you have no idea where to start with your health, are overwhelmed with all of the information that’s out there, and are ready to begin healing at the root cause, Journey to Balance is right for you! |
